Things to Do in Majorca

There’s nothing worse than being bored on your holiday. It is important to choose a destination that offers more than sand and water. Not many travelers want to spend every waking hour of their trip lying on a beach. And what if it rains? By acquainting yourself with the attractions and diversions nearby, you will probably find that there are more than enough ways to keep yourself wonderfully entertained. There are so many things to do in Majorca that you could spend a month-long holiday and never run out of options. Whether you want to participate in hands-on activities or general sightseeing, you will find something that suits your interests.

Because Majorca is an island, there are a number of coastline activities that you might enjoy. In many oceanfront villages, you’ll find deep sea diving, snorkeling, and deep water rock climbing. This form of climbing takes you to the steep cliffs that drop straight down to the Mediterranean Sea, and the water below is deep enough to sustain falls. This activity is only recommended for very experienced sportsmen. A more relaxing activity would be to charter a motor or sail boat from Windward Islands (a worldwide boat chartering company) and discovering the island by water.

Remember, if you are planning on enjoying more adventurous activities such as diving and rock climbing, it’s important to ensure that you are adequately covered with overseas travel insurance.

If you wish to leave the coast, you’ll still find a lot of intriguing activities inland. Hikers will probably enjoy the Serra de Tramuntana, a large mountain range on the island with some well-developed trails. Birdwatchers won’t want to miss out on a visit to S’Albufera, a wildlife sanctuary near the town of Alcudia. Different bird species have found a safe haven here, including ducks and warblers. Meanwhile, sports enthusiasts should check out one of the nearly 20 golf courses in Majorca. There are many courses open to the general public, including the 18-hole courses Golf Park Puntiró Mallorca and Canyamel.

There are things to do on your Mallorca holidays that will appeal to all ages and levels of energy. Don’t waste your entire holiday on the beach or in shops when you could be taking in sights that you’ll never forget, or expelling some energy in ways that you can’t do back home.
